Welcome to the North Shore Junior Development League 2023 Summer Season

We've put together some information for you below for the 2023 Spring Season at North Shore.

Help Us To Help You

If you haven't already done so, please complete our Junior Player Questionnaire so that we can get you fitted with a playing shirt.

Players need to complete the questionnaire in order to be eligible to take the field on Opening Day.

Stay Informed & Connected

We are using a new app this season, Heja, for our team communication & activity planning. Please click this link or the Heja icon, download the app & join the SCBA North Shore Junior Development League.

This will be our primary form of communication during the season so be sure to download the app ASAP!

Where Do We Train And Play?

The Mudjimba Diamonds

Baseball's Home on the Sunshine Coast

North Shore Multisports Complex

701 David Low Way, Mudjimba QLD 4564

Pro Tip: Avoid car damage from stray balls by parking in the official car park at the eastern end of the complex. Those who choose to park along the boundary fences do so at their own risk.

When Do I Need to Be At the Ball Park?

Mid Week Training - 4pm to 5:30pm

  • Every Thursday

  • First Session: 2 February 2023

  • Last Session: 30 March 2023

Pre Season Sessions

  • Thursday, 19 January 2023: 4pm to 5:50pm

  • Sunday, 22 January 2023: 8:30am - 10am

Game Days - Start at 7:45am Sharp!

  • Every Sunday

  • First Game: 29 January 2023

  • Last Game: 2 April 2023

We encourage our coaches to build the batting line up based on the order that players arrive at the field. Get there first to be the lead off hitter for your team!

What Should I Wear & What to Bring?

  • Enclosed shoes suitable for grass sports. Baseball cleats or footy boots are great too. Just no metal spikes please and definitely no bare feet or thongs.

  • Baseball or tracksuit pants. Shorts are OK too but long pants will protect your legs when sliding into bases.

  • A water bottle. Baseball is thirsty work!

  • Your Sunshine Coast Baseball Cap. If you've not received yours yet, just let us know and we'll get you covered.

  • Your Baseball Glove. If you don't have a glove yet, that's OK. We can provide a loaner for the day.

  • Groin Guards are a non-negotiable requirement for male players on game days. Keep yours in your kit bag in case you need to be a Catcher at training sessions.

What if it's Raining?

Please assume that all sessions are proceeding as planned even if the weather looks suspicious. Baseballers love training and playing in the rain!

Lightning storms or field closures due to poor ground conditions are the two things that will stop us from taking the field. This means too that it might be sunny on the day, but prior rain events mean that council has closed the fields. In these instances, we typically head to Mudjimba Beach to train and play sandball. Heaps of fun!

We will notify players via the Heja app before 2pm each Thursday for training sessions and 7am Sundays if a game needs to be cancelled or rescheduled. We also try and post cancellations on the Sunshine Coast Baseball Facebook page and the Sunshine Coast Baseball Junior League Facebook group. So be sure to follow those if you haven't already.

What are The Rules?

The North Shore Development Leagues NSDL are structured to provide a fun and safe environment to learn the fundamentals of Baseball with an emphasis on participation.

Based on the core official Little League® rules, the NSDL run modified flexible ruleset each season. We've included downloads for the proposed 2022/23 season rules for Rookie Ball and Little League below, but keep in mind that they might change slightly during the season to align with the skill levels and capabilities of the players in each league.

I have more questions. Who do I ask?

Our Junior Volunteer Coordinator, Angelina Kenman will be recruiting Team Managers and asking our 2023 season members to step up to plate for all our Junior teams. Your Team Manager will be your main point of contact during the season so that our coaches can focus on making sure the players are having fun, being safe and developing their skills. Are you a reasonably organised person, with good inter-personal communication skills? Then let Angelina know today. The job comes with a free SC Baseball cap!

Michael Mullan is the Chair of our Junior Sub-Committee and is always happy to chat and answer questions via the Heja app. If it's not super urgent and you can wait a day or two for a response, send him an email instead or hit him up in person at the ballpark on Thursdays and Sundays.

You can also reach out to any of the SCBA management committee members via their emails in the image above and they can help direct your enquiry.

Please do keep in mind that all our members are volunteers, most of whom work fulltime and with family commitments of their own, but they will do their best to make sure you feel welcomed, valued and appreciated as part of our young and rapidly growing Sunshine Coast Baseball community.

Any and all feedback and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Just send an email to feedback@sunshinecoastbaseball.com.au

Get Involved

The SCBA and North Shore Leagues rely on volunteers in our mission to make baseball great on the Sunshine Coast. We need people just like you to help in many different ways and roles. To find out how you can get involved please contact our Junior volunteer coordinator, Angelina.
